What are silicates?

SILIKATY BARLINEK

Silikaty, or calcium-silicate products, encapsulate knowledge accumulated over thousands of years and have been utilized in construction for centuries as both structural and decorative materials. Silicate products faithfully replicate sandstone, the most abundant rock on Earth and a fundamental component of its composition.

Silicate is essentially artificial sandstone manufactured solely from natural materials: 90% sand, 7% lime, and 3% water, typically in the form of blocks or bricks.

The technology for producing silicate blocks was patented by a German scientist in 1880. In recent years, experts have made significant advancements in silicate technology, enhancing the production of calcium- silicate products and improving their physical properties. This has resulted in excellent mass properties of silicate blocks with innovative, ergonomic handles for manual bricklaying and the well-known tongue-and-groove system.

Due to their natural raw material composition and energy-efficient production process without chemical additives, silicate products are environmentally friendly and classified as some of the safest construction materials.

In Western markets, silicate products have been widely used and highly valued for many years, with over 50% of residential buildings constructed silicates.

Due to the widespread knowledge and awareness of the valuable properties of silicate products, as well as their attractive pricing, Poland has also seen a significant increase in interest in this material.

Ecological Production Process of Silicates

SILIKATY BARLINEK uses only natural raw materials without chemical additives for the production of silicate blocks and consumes a minimal amount of energy in the process. Therefore, silicate products belong to the small group of building materials with a far-reaching ecological impact.
